My local coin store sells a 5000ct bag of mixed date Wheats (1909-1958) for $224.95. I believe this is $0.04 per penny. Is this a good deal or not?

Also, the shop sells a 1lb bag of wheats for $8.50 which is about $0.06 per penny. Is this a good deal also?

    Thanks in advance everyone

its about 4 and a half cents each, but assuming their not all 1940's and 1950's; I'd say its a good deal if thats what your interested in.

Why would you buy it? If its for collection purposes, then you should if you want to. If you want to sort through to find rare dates, then don't,

If you are hoping to find key dates, no not worth it to me because these bags have likely been picked through at least once. Better off spending the money to buy keys, instead of hoping to find one.

my purpose for buying is potentially finding a key date, but mostly to collect because of my like of wheats

A coin shop would pick through it. Maybe they missed something but doubt it. They most likely selected some early wheats but will mostly give you all 40s and 50s bought at 1 1/2-2 cents a piece. You will not find key dates I believe and most of these can be found in circulation. I find wheats in circulation all the time. Some go into my Whitman books but still am left with many duplicates.

The guy to buy bags of wheats from is Budgood. I rarely see him on here anymore, but it seems like every person who bought from him got keys and semi keys in every bag. Most other places that sell bags are selling well picked over cents.
