Hello Everyone, I found this token in a flower out front of my Great Grandma's house in Pekin Illinois between 25 and 30 years ago. It has been in a box ever since, only coming out for me to wonder at it. It appeared to have been through a fire. My youghful ignorance is responsible for much of the missing center. I would love any information anyone may have as to the origin and value of this token. I have scoured the internet, and every coin shop around, but am still left with almost no knowledge about this seemingly unique piece. Thank You, Max
Welcome to C/T Max. Can you post a better picture showing more detail of your token? I really can't make out too much with these pictures. Thanks. Bruce
Here are some new pictures. I hope they come out better. On one side it has "THE CONSTITUTION AS IT IS" and the date 1864. On the other side it has the letters "PTATR", 13 stars, and the date 1861 which is preceeded by a 2. Max
I've been deeply inspecting this token and what I thought was 'PTATR' may actually be ‘P-T.APR’. Does anyone have any ideas what ‘P-T.APR’ means?
It might be an abbreviation for "patented" as in Patented, April..... 1861(?) I've seen some strange ways to indicate a patent date, and I think this may be one. Bruce
