Buying discount postage? I've never heard of this before.

    doug444 STAMPS and POSTCARDS too!

There's tons of discount postage on eBay. Here's the basic URL:

    http://www.ebay.com/sch/Postage-/47149/i.html?_nkw=stamps

Today, something over 1,000 listings. Like anything else, there are some tricks of the trade, and mistakes to be made. Basically, however, you can save 20% on your postage costs once you learn which lots NOT to bid on.

I have about $1500 face value on hand, in two dozen Ziploc bags, by denomination. If you are already a stamp collector, and know U.S. stamps, so much the better, as you can bid on lots that "might" contain better mint stamps you can add to your retail inventory, and yet you've paid less than face value for them, so you win twice.

I collected stamps for a while, and I use to get offers from this stamp company in New York called Mystik Stamp Co, and they would always send me offers in the mail offering me stamps for below face value. I would buy all the ones that were below face value. I never could quite understand how they can offer something for less than it's worth...

In that case, from Mystic, it was a "loss leader," meant to reel you in, to the ranks of the buyers. But in the marketplace, a big mess of mint stamps is not worth face value due to the labor required to process it and prepare it for sale. A "user" (using the stamps for everyday postage) does not take such labor into account. For the dealer, time is money.

I usually ship mine in a sleeve.I put a stiff piece of cardboard on each side of the sleeve in a bubble envelope and make sure I write real big do not bend on the envelope before shipment.

I usually use a pamphlet or magazine to place the bill and holder into. That was it disguises it a bit and protects it as well. :thumb:

Hey SteveInTampa I have been in touch with the folks at sellitstore. I was interested in the 3 mil small currency flips, the ones that are open at each end.
I was told that they do not have them anymore as the mfg they got them from has either closed or wasn't making them any longer. I had always gotten them from Dean Oakes Currency in Iowa City Iowa. Their price is double what sellitstore was charging. Do you know who might carry these holders? Thanks

@notehunter494 I do not know who sells the holders you want, but I have maybe 20-30 of them that I could send you. I prefer the open-at-the-top style.
PM me your address and I'll send them.

Hey Steve that is very kind and generous of you. You are one of the Good Guys! I need 500-1000 of these, and need consistency so I will pass. I guess I will just give Bill at Dean Oakes Currency a call, but first maybe snoop around a little more as I still have two hundred packs left. Thank You again, Tom
