I see that the burnished West Point ASEs are available for pre-order, with about a zillion different labels. Paradist Mint has PCGS blue label, blue label first strike, blue label first strike flag, "autographed", autographed first strike, etc. etc. etc.

In the grand scheme of things, does this mean anything to you?

    Only to a fool

  4. It does not mean much to me, but to the registry folks it means a lot. TC

I guess I'm in between. I paid a few bucks more for my 1973-S proof Eisenhower dollars with the picture of Ike on them, but I like Ike, and Ikes, so it was worth the five bucks to me. 10 dollars more for an ASE that has the 'signature' of Mercanti on it I would not pay, but that is just me. I'm sure Mercanti fans or slab collectors would pay it, and there's nothing wrong with that.

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

They mean nothing to me, but they seem to get more money on ebay, so I get them for coins I plan to sell.

Nope, it actually annoys me. Maybe that's why all my slabbed coins are ngc brown labels ;s

I'm with KoinJester, a pedigree is one thing, but a marketing label is for suckers. Personally, I think having modern coins graded at all is a waste of money.

If I see a label I like and would enjoy it, then sure I'd pay a few bucks more. But overall, no I don't really care or go out of my way to buy special labels. It's just a marketing scheme and nothing else.

My ASE go into a Dansco Album. I do have a couple of proof ASE that were given to me a gifts, all in PCGS slabs.
I think you can go crazy trying to buy the label, just too many and when you go to sell , well it may as well have been
    in OGP.

Pedigrees some of the most famous collections have their name attributed to the coin saying that it was once owned by them.

I can purchase a bottle of Tide for $10.00 or the same size bottle of Arm and Hammer laundry detergent for $5.00. I can't tell any difference in how well my clothes are cleaned. Which do you think I should buy?

As others have said, it's marketing and is designed for people with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I would say if you are getting the coin for yourself to keep, purchase what you like. If you are planning on reselling it, as rick said, you will most likely get more for a more "catchy" label.

To me, the label means absolutely nothing.

Thank you. I ended up with an Ike like that - Lock & Key Collection or something similar.

for $57.00 you cant buy the coin send it in to get it slabed for that price, in a way its a good deal, but 7 different lable come on give us break. You know if you order one you'll probley pick the wrong lable

I think it adds "value" only to notice collectors. It catches their eye and they just have to have it more than a regular label.
