I, the one who you guys know, loves the half dollar coin so much (my second favorite odd denomination after the $2 bill) got an interesting piece today. I cashed my check, and asked if the teller had any halves, $2 bills or dollar coins, and she said, all she had, was this one half, and when she showed me it through the window I could automatically tell it was a 40% siver half, just due to the coloring on it. And it was silver! I was right.

Its a 1968 half, in very good condition, yet slightly tarnished, but definately a keeper. :D

I have more luck finding silver off the onesie and twosie pickups from the bank. Usually 50% I have some success finding a nice silver piece or proof.

Yes. Very Odd in that even though they are currently minted and available from the US Mint, they are rarely encountered in daily commerce unless you go out of the way to find them.

Just like 2 Dollar Bills and twenty cent pieces.
