Hey all, I have a 1936 Cent that is in pretty rough shape. It does however have a lot of "lumps" on it LOL Would it be worth anything?

I wasn't getting what "munted" meant...until I got to the end. Then I saw your sig. Brit eh? (oops, nope, you aren't LOL) Thanks! I figured as much, but I didn't know if it was one of those "dotted" 1936 worth a fortune coins (I know mine suck condition wise LOL)
It's really weird. I don't think it's dirt. See, from that picture, the back looks hardly visible, but when I look at the coin, I see everthing fine (from somewhat of an angle). I don't know if it's rust or if it was a screw up ya know? I'll try to scan a better pic.
Suvoth,it is definitely a very corroded coin.I suppose coins get like that after being in circulation for an extremely long time.In this case,70 years. Aidan.
Max & Suvoth,the 1936 dot 1c. was an official issue.It was prepared in early 1937,as there was a demand for the 1c. coins,but the dies for the 1937 coinage hadn't arrived from the Royal Mint in London,England. There's a section on these coins in both 'Coins of Canada' & the Charlton catalogue. Aidan.
hahahah.. That's true in both ways, yeah, maybe it wasn't dotted and now it is... Anyway you could probably never get it graded w/ dot... or even get it graded at all? Better let it go IMO! EDIT : Aidan, got that page of the Charlton catalogue right in front of me!
Max,I bet you that what is said there will really blow you away.If it is possible,could you please post a photo of the page? How's things been over there in Quebec? I have a few of the tokens that were issued in Montreal - mostly Habitants & Front View pieces.I do also have a couple of the Bouquet Sous as well. Aidan.

Hope so! That's .. almost incredible... that only 3 coins were authenticated on a mintage of about 700,000!!! $300,000 for the SP-65 one, wish I could find one and buy a house with that 1¢ coin!!! HAHA! (I'd probably keep it anyway...)
Max,you are right.If you did have one,you'd keep the coin.If you were like Conrad,Baron Black of Crossharbour,you could keep the coin & buy a cool house somewhere,not only in Quebec.or even in Canada. Aidan.
Extra little tidbit about the 1936 dot cent that it seems a lot of people don't know, For several decades all three of the known 1936 dot cents were held in the John J Pitman collection. So although they have been listed in catalogs ever since they were produced, no one could ever own one because one man had all of them and he wasn't interested in selling. No other collector was able to own one until his collection was auctioned off in 1997.
Conder101,other catalogues say that there was around 4 or 5 of the Canadian 1936 dot 1c. coins.The true figure of surviving specimens is unknown. Aidan.
Maybe so, but not a single piece can be definitely traced except for the three Pitman coins. If there are any others they have either only sold by private treaty for 80 years or they have been held in just one collection. It could be possible though, new previously unknown pieces of various coins do keep showing up.
