I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how much this set of coins is worth. I have a US Mint Set from 1913. It looks just a proof set but I know those were not released this early so someone must have put it together. The penny, nickel, and dime are unmarked. The quarter is marked d and the half dollar is marked s. Thank you!

According to Numismedia: the 1913-s half in G-4 condition is worth $22; the 1913-d quarter in G-4 condition is worth $13; the 1913 dime in G-4 condition is worth $3; the buffalo nickel, assuming it's a philadelphia, is worth $8 in G-4 condition; and finally, the wheat cent is worth probably a buck or two. So, basically about $50 or so. If that was a 1913-s quarter, you'd have a couple thousand dollars worth on your hands.

the half and the quarter are a little better dates. you may get a little more than melt for them. Its hard to grade the coins with your photos. Dime would be worth melt.

All common coins someone put into a modern holder. The silver coins are worth melt, the nickel a $1-$2, and the cent maybe $.75 or $1.

Then you need to look again because the prices listed on the web site you linked to are very close to the prices listed in post #4 of this thread.

There were no mint sets produced by the US Mint in 1913. This is simply a modern, aftermarket holder that has had a group of low grade coins placed into it. Value it at melt or just a little more and you will be fine.

Even if the coins are melt value and even if the set is "aftermarket," its still a neat set. That could have been some guy in 1913's pocket change. It certainly would have bought more then than the same denominations would today.

This is a great way to use up those Capital holders.

I assume these are the most common coins for each denomination
Up here on the rooftop I think I see a ...
    ( Using retail )

    1913 D Half Dollar in VG $23.00
    1913 D Quarter in AG3 $10.00
    1913 Dime in Fine $6.00
1913 Buffalo nickel Ty 1 in Fine $10.00
1913 Lincoln Cent in Fine $1.50

    A used holder $3.00
    $53.50 retail

realistically the set shown is probably worth around $40.00

    late edit:
I did the same thing with several empty holders I had nothing better to do with better grade coins.
    I made a 1939 D set
    a 1934 D set with the dollar
some same year/mint 1942-45 war years sets
and a set like yours with Barber coins but I don't remember exactly which year without looking.
I am also trying to complete a simple high grade 1964 phila set which just takes a little reminder to finish. Thanks for the reminder.

True, but that would play into the personal attachment value for the OP. If he/she were to sell it, the story wouldn't play a role in getting more money because of it, so he/she needs to know that. As consultants on this forum, our prime objective is to provide accurate information for all collectors of different levels.
