A Few Errors (A)

I am posting a few errors my kid found in our change jars over the last week. Since I am fairly clueless to errors, I was wondering if you guys could give me a little help as to what these are and what the value of these may be? I am well aware some if not most will be junk, but, I am not educated enough to make that call in on this topic. On a side note, I have looked some of these up as best I could, and I will post what I believe some of them to be, although that will most likely be wrong.

Coin A: This coin is a bit strange, and I have no honest explaination for it. I want to say it is post mint damage, but I don't understand how someone could distort something punched into the metal that far. To be honest, I have no idea what could have done this or the value of it.

Coin B: This coin has some strange bubbling in it, which almost looks like a welt. Again, I have no idea what this is, or the value.

Coin C: This is another odd date, again I don't know what even to call this or it's value.

I am going to continue with posting what I believe are errors with the same subject line A Few Errors (B), (C), and so on...
    Thank you for your time

I added the rest of the 15 total coins I had in the thread titled "A Few Errors" (B) and after doing so I figured out that I could just reply with more images. Thanks for any help you can give! It is highly appreciated! My kid is in agony wanting to know how much money his coins are worth. I'm just glad he is into coins, and it's something we can do together.

    Thanks again,

Both the first and third are PMD. We often see coins that have one of the numbers of the date mabgled. The first was a 7 at one time, and the third was an 8. I can't tell about the second one. Maybe someone with better eyes can help you.

the second one is caused by die wear, not an error.

    Agreed, 1 & 3 are PMD.

    #2 is die erosion.

I thought die erosion was only in the lettering or striking, as in the strike being dull because the die is eroded? Sorry, I am not trying to be difficult in any way. I am just trying to learn. I am only asking only because in coin 2 I wasn't refering to the striking, but the planchet itself seems to have a raised area on it. From what I am gathering, if there is a raised area on a coin, it's from the strike being dull basically? Again, I am not trying to disagree, I am only wondering if we are looking at the same thing? Either I am completely lost on that one, or maybe that is a bad image. I will try to add a new image for coin #2.

There are other reasons for a raised area being on a coin; however.

Die cracks and chips can leave a raised line or blob on a coin's surface too.

If this was on the planchet prior to it being struck, it wouldn't be a striking issue but an issue in manufacture of the planchet.

Oh, ok now I understand. That is kind of what that seems like to me only because the whole left side of the coin is kinda raised regardless to there being nothing struck in some of the areas. I'm thinking this was a bad picture to show that. I'm going to have to search for some examples of both variety and try to get a better understanding. Thank you everyone for the help.

A and D are pmd and not worth keeping. But I like the B coin and die holes and other die damage is interesting. Cuds on the rim of the coin are collected and can add value. Oneday all types of die damage maybe collected. Keep it for the future collector.
