That does look huge. Unless the envelope it's sitting on is being held off the keyboard, which doesn't look to be the case, or unless the keyboard is abnormally small, that's not real.

Also, not the layout on the keyboard. That's not a normal english layout. It could be a Dvorak keyboard, or some non-english layout.

Very peculiar. And the bidding's already up over $250 without anyone asking for clarification as far as I can see.

    Curiouser and curioser.

Well even if it was the right size it would be fake IMHO....th numbers and detail is all messed up.
But I agree that it looks too large....

Well I sent an message to the seller telling him to tell the bidders it was not real. I also reported it to Ebay - I think. I sent them policy violation email - but I could not figure out how to get them a message on why it was misleading. Anyone have another link to report it on?

I actually have one of those.
It was sent to me by a fellow collector.

It's about the size of a coaster that you would sit a glass on.
pretty neat, but not a coin, and definately not worth several hundred dollars.

    Just wanted to follow up.

He also sent me the Buffalo nickel version.
I already had a couple of Kennedy half coasters.

I've seen these in gift shops around here.

I thought it was very nice of my friend to send them to me.
That's got to have a value, right?

    Whatever it is, it's not a Dvorak.[IMG]

I tried to use the "Contact Member" button to ask the high bidder if he knew he was bidding on a replica, but apparently EBay has decided to block that kind of warning message. I got a message saying that since I wasn't engaged in an open transaction with the member I was trying to message, my e-mail had been blocked. :(

Wouldn't be worth much to me, but try giving it to a youngster who might find it extremely cool.
That would show you it's real value. :)

My God!!! I sure feel bad for the guy that wins this bogus auction. Imagine the look he'll get on his face when he gets this "gem" in the mail and realizes this thing is a $3 dollar piece of crap. Its too bad that Ebay wont step in and stop this auction. This would surely qualify as a misrepresentation and a refund would certainly be due, otherwise the winning bidder could end up with a $300.00 coaster!!

at first i thouht taht was just an odd picture.

but i began experimenting, and im pretty sure if i had more time i could get a clear shot of a coin and the keyboard - the problem is: in the picture the Indian Head Cent appears to have the diameter of 4-5 keys.
I cant get my 1cent piece to take up that much space while still looking like that.

I got a fairly good one of a "3 key" diameter - but im not sure how to do more.

if it is a large coin, i feel bad for the buyer :(

My curiosity got the best of me & I emailed the winner to ask if the penny was a coaster size replica or a coin. Maybe he will answer before he pays.

Note in the description "Treasure from my yard" ????

How you do this? I tried and got the blocked message. Normally I would only complain to ebay, but I thought I would send something to the winner(after seeing all the HCGS coins for sale without pictures of the coins). This person also has a 1919 for sale - another treasure from his yard.

As a Chicago Native, I don't know this seller. Definitely a scam and he made good of it. I have a large metal 1877 just like that, and if he can sell his for $250+ then what is stopping anyone else from trying the same thing.

Morals and ethics. I could not bring myself to con someone this way.
