Uh...I don't think that's a small date. What are those guys smoking?

Also, while that toning MAY be real, its brutally ugly. All around loss.

Bad day at the office I suppose. Would NGC make it right, or call it a "clerical error" and decline coverage?

Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

I have yet to find a small date with the "Monster Rainbow". Definitely blew that one big time.

If you can get one cheap enough, you might buy it and send it in for the NGC guarantee!

Yes, definitely send it back in to NGC. They'll reevaluate a coin for their guarantee for no charge. If you're right, they'll reslab it and you'll get a refund of the difference, I believe.

Actually, that is an option, but not their preference. Their preferred option is to replace it with the correct coin. So you will have to watch out because I doubt the toning is considered here.

oh my...... I wonder if the mis-attribute is worth a premium. I once had an 18d in an 18 slab, but chose to sent it back in for reslabbing.... some folks said the coin could be worth more as a tpg error'ed.... Makes me wonder if there is a market and collector population for top tpg erros similar in nature to actual coin errors.

You don't like rainbow toning? :( My OP was directed at the date.

I'm a fan of these 70-S LD toners, I've owned quite a few. PCGS always gets them right.

NGC's guarantee does not cover attributions so the only thing they would be obligated to do would be to reholder it as the large date. No compensation.
