I'm just wondering why Canadian coins don't get slabbed like US coins. The slabs are so nice in themselves why just a flip for Canadian coins
ICCS does flips for Canadian coins, but NGC, ANACS, ICG and PCGS slab Canadian coins just as the do US coinage.
I am curious if a key date Canadian coin would sell for higher in an ICCS flip, or a PCGS/NGC slab. I am curious to know how their grading standards compare. No doubt ICCS is reputable and the main certification choice for Canadian.
The alternate TPG for Canada is CCCS, who have 2 types of hard slabs, as well as flips if you want them. They also have a complete tracking website and they certify many many more varieties and errors than does ICCS. As far as whether a US or Canadian TPG is better .. it all depends on where you intend to sell it. In Canada, it needs to be in an ICCS or CCCS holder, except for very high-grade collectors, and then PCGS is the one to go. If sale is intended in the US, PCGS tops, then NGC, then older ANACS, then ICCS. If ICCS would start doing slabs and have a website (not just a phone number with no tracking of serial #'s) then they would start to regain the market share that they are losing to the other TPG's.
Bill do you have any pictures of the CCCS slabs? I have seen a CCCS flip but I don't think I have seen a CCCS slab.
I found one on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1936-silver...dian_Coins&hash=item53e6007f8c#ht_1303wt_1155
