Here’s a new addition to my Whitman’s Type Set. That’s my lower grade type coins. This is an 1884 “V” or Liberty Head Nickel. It’s the second year of issue and considered a semi-key date from the early years of this type coin.

Currently, I am in a quest to collect American Silver Eagles, but every time I see coins like yours, I want to start collecting them. This hobby of ours is neat, but we all enjoy our own collections. Best of luck.
    That is a great coin.

I forgot to mention that there is a die crack. The smaller photo, shows the crack at the stars behind her hair bun.

    Yep.
Early nickel coins were famous for their die cracks.
Nickel is a harder metal and the Mint had trouble getting used to it.

My 1884 in my Whitman folder is low grade. I actually have two V nickel Whitman folders.

sweet I have a tough time with these I would call that borderline au58-ms60 and only because I see what looks like a tiny bit of rub on a couple of the stars... (4-5 o'clock)

I have the completed set in lower grade condition. This was cheap and nice enough I decided to buy it.
