lol reuben! soo true. my family makes fun of me.. you paid ... and its only a nickel??!!!
i also bought a roll of low grade liberty nickels which yeilded 2 1889s, 1890, 1895, 1897, 1898, 1899, 1909, and a 1912 d. most were acid dated but the roll was only 7 bucks. worth it for some hole fillers

 

VDB cents are a little run of the mill. Lord knows, I don't need another. But a forum member ATS is trying to raise money so I picked this up. Nice guy. Nice coin.

Just like my family. But now they have begun to understand. I will never forget the reaction of my mom when she learned that I spend $45 on a penny. And another time, earlier, when I paid $22 for a nickel, well that drew some odd looks from my cousins

 

I've been experimenting checking out different auction sites...checked out Heritage (ridiculous BP, IMHO), GreatCollecions, ProxyBid, Teletrade...and found a nice set of items ending on TT with no BP! Placed a few bids and won the two nice toners. The great thing about TT is a) no BP on Tuesdays, and b) mediocre pictures (in terms of reflecting toning)! These two that I bought have "meh" pictures, but I'm hoping for much stronger color when they come in the mail.

1944 NGC MS67 Mercury Dime (OH) -$42
A nice high grade lustrous Merc. A picture isn't too great, but you can tell there's some nice rainbow toning, especially on the obverse. I have high hopes for this one!



1957 D PCGS MS65 Washington Quarter - $14
Rainbow toned quarters are a bit harder to find compared to other denominations (they usually have a really smooth yellow tone), so I had to pick this one up. $14 isn't too bad either.



This is my first experience with TT, so hopefully it will be a good one!

And here's something I grabbed for a bargain, even though I don't collect 'em.
It's very original, although I doubt I'll hang onto it for very long.

 

Always wanted one of these no-motto tens. Finally found one that I like, and didn't costs $3-4K. The local dealer that I bought it from was grumbling that he was hopelessly buried in it. I guess he thought it would come back with a 63 or 64 grade.

 

Maybe a little to original with this one - copper spots and all.

 

Any one know why my Photobucket pics upload to CT unedited? I crop them, replace and save, then for some reason they show up as the originals.

 

There's no need to upload them to the file manager to begin with. Just copy the "Direct Link" to the photo fro Photobucket, click "Add File", switch tab "Upload from Computer" to upload from "Website", and then paste the direct link into the URL section.
