If im not mistaken 1987 is the lowest mintage of the clad halves

I picked up two boxes of nickels. First box were all new I could see through the holes in the bottom after I got them home of course!

In the second box I found two war nickels, a 44-D and a 45-D. Then about twenty 1959 or older.

It's an NIFC year. But that was before the mint sold rolls and bags of NIFC coins. So 1987s were only obtainable by buying a mint set. Just like the 1973 Ikes.
So I haven't checked mintages, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the lowest clad mintage.

Went to go get a box of dimes and they told me they did not have any so I asked for Quarters so I had something to search.
Waste of time. Skunk on silver and got 4 x Modern Canadians.
Been a real dry week for silver so far.

Every year since 2002, except 2005, has a lower overall mintage than 1987. If we're just talking Philly and Denver, then every year since 2002 except 2004 and 2005 is lower.

    I guess you're right, actually.
Why the heck were so many mint sets made in 1987?!?

i know that it's not really a roll find, but i went into a thriftstore yesterday and found two silver eagles for ten bucks a piece.

    1996 and 1997 :D

YAY! they were still in the mint box with the COA.

Great start before heading to the office. I called my CU a few days ago and was told they had $8 in halves, but blew it off cuz I didn't want to drive over for a small amount. Ended up there this morning and it had grown to $8.50 loose. Turned out 3 40%ers and a 90%! Will post later on the CWR dimes I also snagged.

I've been told that here in my area, every abnk uses coin companies who have Ryedales sort out the silver. I believe it's probably true since nearly every slot machine was equipped with one in the days they still used coins. So, the only chance of getting any silver is if you are fortunate enough to get some CWRs.

This sounds unlikely. What area is this? This isn't the case in any of the areas all us searchers on this thread are in, as we find some silver in BWRs. And the suppliers are mostly nationwide, I believe.
