I noticed that Canada made some coins one year that were celebrating past designs. I think it would be really cool if the US Mint, as a commemorative set, or as regular mint issue, made a year where all the coins were past designs. Like: 2013 Indian Head Penny 2013 Buffalo Nickel 2013 Barber Dime 2013 Standing Lib Quarter 2013 Franklin Half. Or something of that sort.
I have to agree with Medoraman. I'd rather the Mint be more creative, and replace some of these old, mundane, stale designs like Lincoln cent, Jefferson nickel, Washington Quarter, even though it's no longer made for circulation, the Kennedy half. Yawn city!
I wouldn't want to see any old designs come back either. Unless they change the design of the american silver eagle. I wouldn't mind seeing the merc or another older design come back in that fashion.
Allegorical Liberty. Our nation's coinage was wonderful until we began replacing Portraits of Liberty with Dead Presidents. It doesn't matter whether Liberty is Seated, Standing, Walking, or Flying. It doesn't matter whether the coin is a half dollar, quarter, cent or something else. Nor do the old designs need be re-issued. There are unlimited ways that Artistic Visions of Liberty can be portrayed. Circulating United States Coinage should -- by law -- be restricted to Allegorical Visions of Liberty.
I think we're going to need more signatures than the total membership here Current CT stats, there are 39,197 members of CT. No telling how many are hit and run members(people who joined, asked one question in What's It Worth forum and never posted again).
I would love to see the $10 Indian brought back. I always liked the war bonnet.....Looks wise I`ll take a more aggresive looking coin over the "majestic" St. Gaudens any day of the week.
I would love to see any of the pre-65 90% silver coins come back. It will not happen other than in a token way if ever due to the cost of silver and politics.
