I just got back from the bank with a sealed $25 Penny box. I opened 6 rolls and did not find a single copper penny! I stopped opening the rest. I think that someone else must have searched it and returned it, and then the bank just resealed the box. Has that ever happened to any of you? Is it possible that there really was not a single pre '82 penny?
I have gotten three boxes in the past few years that were all brand new cents. The first time I opened every roll, the last two I turned down at the counter. The worst box that did have copper was the one that only had one wheat. At least the one wheat was a VF 1926. My best box was back in March, found 143 1943 steel cents, most in bright original BU. I don't find steel too often as most coin counting machines refuse it - but I find steel in the reject slots. There were also 146 other wheats in bronze in that box.
