I have three 1921 Mercury Dimes, I picked them up for dirt cheap, just wondering what you would grade them and also how much they are worth...
Thank you for your time, and sorry for the picture quality,
    Tyler

All are in G 4 condition. There worth melt which is $5.50 for all of them.

    That's generous. I'd say ag3, fr2 & g4, but damaged.

Where do you get that they are only worth 5.50? G-4 in the red book lists them for $65?

What? Clearly they are not all the same grade and the 1921 is definitely worth much more than melt. Maybe $20 to $25 each.

I can go with AG3/FR2, AG3/FR2, and G4 damaged. They should be worth $20 - $30 each (interpolating NGC guide).

1 - I'd label FR even though AG would probably fly because of the obverse.

    2 - FR

    3 - G details

Price wise, I see no more than $10-$15 each retail, but since we live in an ebay world, more would not be at all surprising.

    That's what I thought...but I would give the last one a net G4

You mean like this one; http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...j7VVIWcuDAXUgWZiDhSMU%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
It is in better shape than either of the undamaged and certified as AG-3. Still only went for $38.

And here is one in similar shape for $16 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...j7VVIWcuDAXUgWZiDhSMU%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

    Reality Grading/Pricing?

    I agree with statequarterguy.

Mouse and the red book are hilarious!!

If I were purchasing them, I'd add $60 conservatively to the bid placed by Mouse.

Why? None of the three in this thread are worth G money, so this means nothing.

Again, why? If the OP's coins are Philly, why bother with D&S?

So if you'd like to go off of the ebay world, you might want to compare apples to apples.

One thing that has become clear with this thread that some opinions seem to be kinda ill informed or the posters just read the thread wrong. I've done that and blame my meds. I am thinking that the 21 S someone mentioned goes next to the 23 Ds

. And that key dates are likely a bit overpriced when they are in poorer condition. Simply because most collectors can't stand an open hole. Myself included. At auction these always get bid a bit higher than I would think for that reason.

It's a cool find. Save them in your book to upgrade later if you need them, otherwise, just hang on to them a bit. As the economy improves, the prices should also. IMHO

I am currently not collecting merc's so i am selling them, just wanted to get an idea on price and condition. I only have a total of $6.30 invested in them ;)

Well, you did make a very good deal. I believe I might sell 2 and keep one ? That way you make a profit and still have one of the more scarce ones. I try to get keys and semi keys even though I am not collecting a series. You just never know when you will come across a "lot" or partial collection that you can complete if you have the keys. That's what happened with my type B Washington collection. I never thought of collecting all of them until I got the rarest one (1956) in a 40 coin lot I bought. You build on that.

You should make a nice profit any way you go on those though.

I had thought about doing that, but it now depends on if the gentleman that i am talking to right now decides to buy all three or not.

Wow...sounds like you need to relax a bit and not be so aggressive...A few posts above you're first one said they look about G. So that's what I went with. And the search I did came up with different mint marks. So I mean no
big deal, but if you wanna bust my chops I'm cool with that. I mean I'd actually have to care about
you to care about your senseless remarks.
