Roll hunting today and I found a mint in wrapper 1993 and 1994 roll of Canadian nickels. I was wondering should I break the roll up and put it in 2x2s and possibly piece them out or are they worth more as a roll?
youd make more breaking the roll open if you can find enough people interested but some people want the whole roll.
so basically let it sit as is unless I find myself surrounded by 40 people all wanting MS 1993/94 nickels. If I did break up the roll and put them in 2x2 would that affect the rating of the coin over time or assuming I handle them correctly when putting them in the 2x2s they'll be just as nice as they are now sitting in the mint wrapped roll?
I had a similar dilemma. I got $140 worth of halves at the bank and they were all mint rolls. If you're curious, you can see them on my video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMgWsd8iUNA (Just skip to 3:40 ish).
Thanks for the info. I'm new to all this and still trying to figure things out. http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=5-cents-1994&years=5-cents-1953-2012 says that an MS-66 1993/94 coin is worth $150 and MS-65 is worth $29. I know something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it but would it be worth getting a couple of these mint coins graded. Would they grade MS-66?
