Hmmm.. I'll look for one of those. If they don't have one at the library I'll buy it. For $15 it sounds like a good deal for any book.

Is it better to go to a older bank or one of the bank branches? Here in Joplin MO. there are a lot of small brach banks that is why I am asking.

I don't know if they're exactly in excellent shape, but some of them look very good. My email is alexantonow@gmail.com. I can send you a scan or a picture.

I'm no coin expert, but I can tell you that where I live most of the small branch banks don't have the rolls of Kennedy Half's or Sacagawea Dollars. The only one that does is one that has many more locations than those smaller banks. They also have free coin counters.

My library doesn't have the redbook, but it has a bluebook by Yeoman also.

That's ok. I have a really good spam filter. If it gets spam from one address it won't accept it again.

    Latest Find

Well I just finished moving halfway across the country (Iowa to Maine) and wasn't sure how roll searching would be in the new location. Went to the bank, opened up a checking account and got $100 in halves for the fun of it.

One roll was SOLID 40% silver! Now, I'll have to see if there's more on Monday. Definitely a good sign, though...

    Mintage numbers

Can anyone tell me where to find mintage numbers for the 2005 & 2006 Kennedy's? I can't find it online and only have an '06 Redbook. If the mintage is low, I may purchase a few rolls to put away. Is this a wise idea?

I'm having a lot of luck searching rolls. I'm averaging 2 silver & 10-12 of the 40% silver from each box. I also decided to collect the low mintage (<8m) ones. This group got me hooked on roll searching halves. Ii have become quite stealthy at the banks!

    Thanks for all your help.

I don't know it exactly off the top of my head, but both are in the 2.5-3.5 million range.

Thaks Cave Troll....Do you think it's worth picking up a few rolls of the '05 & '06 to put away for the kids? I'm thinking it would take a few generations before these really appreciate in value.

think. all of them are saved and put away. NONE of them circulate. the number of saved pieces will be high. so yes, you are probably be right. however, if you bought 90% of total mintage (not likely), they would sure appreciate much sooner. :D

I agree, I am not paying a premium for them since they will always be available in Mint State, but I do save every one I see. I think a fair parallel is the half dollars of the 1880's. They were also nearly all saved and even today they are relatively cheap (half the price or less than the much more common Barber halves), but they are still nice coins, it just took some time for them to appreciate very much.

I was just wondering. I've been avoiding the bank across the street because I have only found 2000Ds in $30 of Kennedy Halfs. Maybe I'm expecting to find more older half-dollars.
When you go to the bank how much of what you get is 2000s? Maybe I'm just not getting enough rolls.
