Identification help !!! Some bronze coin or token

Hi everyone,

I purchased this coin recently and I still couldn't identify it although I have a hunch that it's might be some french island colony coin.

Can someone help me to identify this piece ?

It may be a jeton rather than a coin or some other kind of gaming token.

I believe you may have an 18th/19thC flat button. The back is the crowned wreath - under the crown you can see the remains of the shank. The front is the checkerboard design.
