What should ANACS do?

I bought a 1942 D over Horz D Jefferson Nickel on ebay a few weeks ago graded by ANACS MS-60 details cleaned (Blue Label). When I received the I noticed a spot of something in the field in front of Mr. Jeffersons nose. It looks like a peice of tissue or some other foreign matter and what appears to be PVC underneath. I debated sending it back for a refund but I didn't pay a whole lot for it and it is most likely the best example of the variety I'll be able to afford or I should say want to afford.
I debated breaking it out of the holder to remove the spot but decided to wait till the Baltimore/Washington Coin Convention to ask ANACS about it. Well, ANACS did not have any graders at the show so the customer service manager said she would take the coin back with her and find out what they would do and give me a call.
That was on Friday 7/14, I haven't heard back but was wondering what you all think they will or should do?
My feeling is they should have removed the spot before slabbing it or not slabbed it in the first place with active PVC!

Call ANACS and ask what is going on with it. I assume that you have a receipt that they are in possession of it. I doubt though that if they got it from you last Friday that anything has been done at this point. Probably not even entered into the system yet. In dealing with slabbing companies expect not to think in hours or days. Weeks is the norm. (Sometimes months). I would think they they will reslab the coin if the PVC isn ot an issue. If it is in fact PVC then who knows. They might refund some change to you. Let us know how this turns out. I just sent in 5 coins to get slabbed from them yesterday on the 5 day turn around. Last time the 10 day turn around took 5 weeks. ( They did make things right I might add about the excess amount of time it took )

It wasn't their place to remove the spot. Some of the services have gotten into trouble doing that in the past messing with a customers coin. As for whether or not it is "active PVC", I suspect a lot of "PVC" out there isn't. Too many people want to call anything that looky oily or is green PVC. More than half of them don't even know what PVC is.

And if the experience of most people is any indication, don't hold your breath waiting for that phone call. If you want to find out anything you will almost certainly have to call them. It will help if you know the customer service managers name who took the coin so they know who to ask about it.

They usually label it PVC damage. A piece of tissue wouldn't cause PVC damage nor would most other materials that weren't plastic made with the proper substance. ( can't spell it off the top of my head. Ha). Can you post a picture?

Well I waited 2 weeks and called ANACS and they said they hadn't gotten to it yet and they would be getting to it in the next day or 2 and would be giving me a call. That was 2 weeks ago. No Phone call, nothing, then yesterday I get a fedex package and the coin is returned in a new holder the spot gone. There was no letter of explaination as to what it was or what was done to remove it, no charges for reslabbing or postage, so I'm overall happy but wish I knew for general purpose.
