Does anyone here have any favorite coins they keep just because? As in: they really have no collector value or melt value, just something you have a habit of pulling when you roll search. I used to keep bicentennial quarters for no reason other than it is one of my favorite designs. After filling too many rolls to count I realized I was just wasting coin I could put back into circulation for more searching for myself. I also keep one of the newer Jefferson Nickel designs with the Buffalo on it. I think that was a well designed coin.

Anyhow, does anyone else have any bad coin saving habits?

I found this in a roll. I keep it because I'm "afraid" to spend it:

I search for wheats but I keep all the 1959s I find because I feel like I should lol. I also keep any world or foreign coins I find. I'm also keeping the 2009 lincoln presidency cent because I like the reverse design of it

I like to keep old Jefferson nickels just for fun, 1950's and older. I don't feel they have any premium and are not likely to have much, if any, in the years ahead due to high volume mintages.

I also like to collect stuff like that. I pretty much collect anything 1960 and older in any denomination

I keep most coins because I either like them, or plan to sell them at a profit. Most coins that I "like" and hold, I do assume will also sell for more than face.

Anyways, right now I find myself holding onto Ikes and $2 bills (not coins I know :p). No really sure why, but those are the ones I'm hoarding with no real intent behind it at the moment.

I keep the 2009 Lincoln Cents. I have 4 complete sets, but I have 9 of the formative years. There is just so much! I also have a big jar full of circulating coins. I want to spend them, but I know they will be worth more in the near future. (100 years, anyone?) :D

I search half dollars and also keep anything I think can sell for more than face either immediately or at some point in the future. Really the only ones I keep just because I like them are one with attractive heavy toning. They're common date clad and will probably never be worth more than face, but I don't find many and I think they're pretty so I keep them.

circulated proofs, 2002-2012 half dollars, pre 1960 nickels, bicentennial quarters, canadian dimes (only cause the machine's magnet will steal them and not pay me for them)

I keep all cents up to 1982 and all other coins up to 1964 (including nickels for the sake of continuity). :)

I was keeping the 2005 Buffersons for awhile, but then I had several thousand and figured I could use the money to buy more nickels to find real Buffers and silver war nickels. I keep handfuls of dateless Buffers for my antique slot machine.
