Look at the picture please. Have you ever seen a five like this? I haven't... It's brand new too... I haven't seen one so I would like to ask: is it an error? And if so, what is its value? It is almost CU
That's what I thought... looks like a ten... (by color)... however, water mark is ... lincoln.. and safety strip (is that how I should call it?) says USA FIVE. That makes it impossible that it was printed on wrong paper right? Is it possible to dye a bill like this? Is that something one can do at home? this is a scan (better colors) Would posting a link to a HIGH-resolution scan help? By high resolution i mean really high resolution 1200 DPI
Anything's possible. A little dye, a little time, and bada boom, you got yourself a nice 'n dirty little five looking like a ten!
But shouldn't the new five have a different style and series? Like they did with 10,20,50? I doubt they would just change color. That wouldn't make sense to me. What I'm trying to figure is whether this is worth keeping or spending. Or ebaying? If this is a mint error (how do you call those in bill collecting? mint doesn't print bills )or not. I have never collected bills so that's why I'm asking all of you. And if you need more information/pictures, let me know. Thanks!
uh oh, didn't wait long enough for picture to load, but the date would be wrong if it supposed to be the new one....?????
That's why I'm asking. It is just like a usual five, but with different color. I would notice if it was a new series bill
Those don't look the same color to me. The 10 is more yellow, like its been sitting in a urine specimen for a few days. YUCK! IMHO
It's not an error. It's a dirtied up $5 bill. For one thing, the color isn't even. The edges are more "colored" than the center of the bill, especially to the upper left of Lincoln's head. Estimated value: $5.00.
When you consider that the color on the ten is due to ink printed on the note and not inherent to the paper itself it has to be a stained note.
A little Mapico Iron Oxide Yellow or Brown, mixed in the correct amounts, soaked, then pressed. Carry that to any color you want to make. A purple looking note soaked in so simple as grape juice, then pressed. A "NEW" note in any color you like. If this has the $5 thread in it, it is VERY UNLIKELY that it is a $5 note printed on the new $10 note stock..... JMHO. If you REALLY think this is an anomaly, submit it to PMG or PCGS for authenticity. Personally, I think you would be wasting the $30 submittal fee.........
no, i doubt it... because the thread is $5 thread. it is useless to keep it unless it is a mint error, and i dont think so at this moment. however, if any one of you thinks otherwise, tell me asap. so that i dont spend it
Condor is absolutly correct. Look at the White Rays and the White Oval on the $10. The Orange tint on the new $10`s is PRINTED, not inherent in the paper.......
