The wording on the front is unreadable. The date is unreadable. There's a small circle sticking out on his face.... any ideas?
Definite post mint damage. Probably done by a bored machinist on a lathe. If the damage was on both sides, I'd suspect it was stuck in a commercial clothes dryer, but with only one side damaged, somebody was playing around.
Not sure I buy that.. I'm new at this stuff but that would require pressure and being held which would cause dammage to the back and sides.... Neither are damaged just the front... Anyone else seen anything like this?
I agree, and as a new collector, you should research the steps in which a coin is minted, and you'll realize its PMD, heres a video that somewhat shows the minting process, its done with dollars, but its the same premise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jggPpaLyKk
d!! Thank you! Been trying to figure it out. I'm not disputing the pmd. I just can't figure out how they did it and I don't understand the full process of how it works. Thanks for the help!
