That trade dollar is a beautiful example of why coins do not always need to be MS to be nice. Good pickup.
Picked up 4 books at an antique mall last weekend. A 1955 (8th Edition), 1964 (17th Edition) & 1970 (23rd Edition) issues of the Guidebook to United States Coins....aka....The Red Book. Also got a 1954 (11th Edition) of the Handbook of United States Coins with Premium List...aka...The Blue Book. The 1970 Red Book was $1.00, the others were $2.00. The Blue Book was stamped 9 times by Chicago coin dealer Bill Mertes.
Got this on eBay Got this on eBay the other day...for only $83 which is about what they go for...I've seen some others priced around $105...
A few super 61 proof coins, courtesy of Coin Dexter, to go along with the sweet 60 proof won this week..
Newest ancient to my set. This one is one of the rarest reverse for this particular empress. Now I only need 3 for this particular lady and I will be done. Still have 7 to go on the other empress though Crispina (178 - 182 .D.) AR Denarius O: CRISPINA AVGVSTA, draped bust right. R: DIS GENITABILIS, lighted altar. 17.5mm 3.15g RSC 15 Apparently commemorating an altar dedicated by the empress in hope of or thanks for a blessing of fecundity from the dii genitales.
Just back from grading. From a group of 12 Lincoln proofs either raw or in other 3rd party slabs with instructions for PCGS to crack out and grade as raw. All passed, a few with better results than expected. PR66RB My Photos
I snagged a nice crusty Kennedy. Love it or hate it. Also a bunch of Washington toner clads. If you care, here are more from the quarter album: http://www.cointalk.com/t210264/
