An Indian One Dollar Territorial Gold Piece (Period One Perfered) in any condition I could muster. This is very doubtful on the regular market, but might get lucky if I were at the right Estate Sale.
I would fill a few hole in my seated Dime + half dollar collection.Or find a nice MS-65+ 1897-O Morgan Dollar
Big dreamer maybe. Also, such a question is a little harder for me since $1000 on a coin is doable. I have spent that or more for a coin. Its like asking others "what dream coin would you buy if you had $100 to spend on a single coin?"
My aswer to your question is "I don't know". When I return from the World's Fair of Money in Philadelphia, I might know & would probably post it here. :smile Someone mentioned $10 Indian gold. I might give the same recommendation. It is a beautiful coin with a lot of gold in it. I would add that the $10 Indian should be purchased certified.

I would love to buy an AU 1839-O RE half dollar for $1,000 or thereabouts, but unfortunately it costs about $1,500 for an EF45 if you are looking for a nice coin. A true AU would be over $2,000.
This 1859 cent used to be in my Dansco 7070 Type Set Album. Now there is an empty hole in the album & the coin resides in a SDB. At least I have this photograph.
You wont be able to buy a 1839O in AU or a Bust Half in Mint state for $1000. I personally would purchase a solid AU Capped Bust Half or a VF35 Draped Bust Half. Or a MS64 Matron head Large Cent. I was fortunate to buy this for around $1400. I consider myself VERY lucky for the opportunity.
