Nice box of halves! Round robin of stuff from mint sets, clad proofs and NIFCs including my first '70D which I almost overlooked if it weren't for the great silver sound. Altogether, '66, '70D, '87P (x2), '01S, '02S, '03S!
Also squeezed a '57 out of a dime box. A good day!

Wow, that's a nice haul and easier to dump than halves. Lots of Mercs. Are those CWR's or BWR's?

Good looking 13, looks to be a solid VF. Easily a $30-35 coin right there! And the 27 will go for about $5 or so.

Halves: out of two rolls, I found 8 bicentennial halves, but no silver
Quarters: from 1 roll, I found 1 Chicasaw quarter, no silver
Dimes: out of 5 rolls of dimes, I found absolutely nothing but a shiny 2011 dime
    Nickels: out of 3 rolls, I found a bunch of the Lewis and Clark coins, 2 extremely shiny 88-D's, 1946, 1948, 2x 1960, 4x 1964, and 1969
Pennies: out of 6 rolls, no wheats but a lot of copper (the lowest date was 1959), some new shield pennies, some of the 2009 Lincoln series, and 1 dime.

Overall I did okay..... I was surprised that I didn't find any wheat cents, because I get them back as change quite often, so not finding any in 6 rolls was shocking.
No silver but the bicentennials are pretty neat.

    Today's results:
    $2 Pennies: 33 Copper, 2 Wheat; 40P, 42S
    $10 Dimes: 1 Canadian 1979
    $100 Quarters: 1 1989S Proof:)

A few ATB Quarters, none were any of the hole filler Ps I need.

I asked the bank about ordering a box of half dollars, the guy said he would look into it. Apparently I am the only one who asks for half dollars, so I get them when they have them, which is rarely. What with them not being put into circulation anymore, they don't regularly get them, and few people bring them in. And they normally don't order them due to so little demand.

Super stoked, as it seems I may have my hands on yet another nice halves box! Only being able to pay for 1/2 a box at a time has been killing me because of the anticipation of waiting for the next day to p/u the rest of it. So far I will say there are more tasty tidbits (an additional FIRST, woot!) I also finally landed a permanent job, so hopefully come August I'll be able to get whole boxes in one shot! Full results tomorrow!

Well I just finished my second out of 4 boxes of pennies. I thought this one was going to be a bust until I came across a 1911-D and a 1916 in the last two rolls.

In total, I found 18 wheats and 13 Canadian.

I also found a bunch of these in my first and second boxes. Mostly 80's:

I assume that is an example of the wood-grain effect?

I honestly have no clue what those are. I have found several over the years and kept quite a few. most of the ones i find are from the 80s as well but i have found some in the 60s and 70s. can anyone tell us what they are?[IMG]

Well I haven't been very successful on my BWR boxes of halves lately, but I went into a local bank I haven't visited yet since I moved to my new place. The teller had $80 of CWR so I got them. I decided to do the ole sneak peek before heading home and was immediately overjoyed to see from a side view that 15 of the 20 coins in the roll were silver. I put them back and just told myself I was about to have a fun time when I got home. Out of 160 halves, 95 of them were 40%ers. This is my new biggest find, my last being the one where I found about 52 in $250 worth. Since the teller I had talked to didn't ask anyone else if they had halves I decided to go back and found that another teller had $350 in CWR so I got those too, hoping each of those would have the same number per roll as the previous $80. They didn't, but I did find 6 more 40%ers, putting my daily total at 101 40%ers out of $430 searched. Woohoo!!!!!!!!! What does baffle me though is that I have yet to find a walking liberty in circulation and haven't found any 90%ers in well over a year. (For anyone counting the stacks I took this picture before I got the final 6 40%ers)

finda.JPG Went to a buddy's for a poker game late this afternoon. When I got there realized I did not have much cash. Ran to the closest bank. Walked in and while I am doing my transaction, one of the tellers says "you collect halves right?" I have not seen you in a while but I have been saving 5 rolls for you. Graciously I take them. She said she kept them for two months. Found 17 40% ers, and 11 90% ers including a 1945S and a 1963D.

Ps lost $20 when my set of jacks ran into a set of kings but still a good day!

Yep, those are called woodies because of the grain that gives it a wood grain look. and yes, it is because the metal was not mixed well so the different metal tones at different rates.
ones with good eye appeal can go for $2 to $5 dollars. Of course rare dates go for a lot more.
show it over in error thread and someone will want to buy it.
