As this one comes to an end I just want to say thank you again! Winning on the last spin was exciting, but I also had a lot of fun researching the contest within a contest.
You stated at the begining of your contests that you hoped people would be encouraged to spend more time on CT and I know I have. I have had the pleasure of meeting not only you, the CoinTrader himself (and doing a little trading) but some very interesting members, including: an member who is deaf and wants to be come a coin broker, some interesting folks over the the coins roll searching threads, a young man wanting to do some photography, and many more. I have tried to add a helpful bit here and there and have learned a lot from others.
So I also want to thank you for encouraging me to spend more time here on CT.
    Thank you !!!!

Thank you for the contest :) You have spend hours and hours to make this happen. I'm sure you gave a lot of joy and excitement for CT members.

Reel Mapping and Slot Machine Internals
    Gallery Link: http://s1112.photobucket.com/albums/k481/thecointrader/Spin To WIn/

I took the time to open the Slot Machine and spin the reels a dozen times, generating 13 still images of the reels with a view of 7-8 positions on each reel. In retrospect, I probably should have mapped the reels in this manner prior to the start of the contest, but I also wanted an idea of how difficult it would be for players to map the reels in 'Reel Time', which is why I chose to leave the door closed until now. Hopefully, these images will allow us to determine the actual layout of Reel #2. As you remember, Reel #1 and Reel #3 have been conclusively solved.

The reel assembly does slide out of the machine for 360-degree viewing, however, this requires some time and tools, and is a project I'd rather not undertake at this time. In the unlikely event that we are not able to map Reel #2 with certainty, then I'll reconsider pulling the reels out of the unit.

In attempting to map Reel #2, look for the 'seam' where the reel overlay is laid onto the reel itself. There's only one seam on each reel. It was necessary for me to use this seam as a guide in order to map the reels prior to the start of the contest. A full explanation of why we are still unsure of the symbol layout for Reel #2 can be read in Post #292 of this thread. A photo of the machine with the door open is available in Post #305.

I have not yet attempted to map Reel #2 using these newly taken photos, due to other obligations. Please note that One Numismatic Prize awaits any eligible Spin To Win Contest participant who meets the following two conditions:

1- Is the first to post a correct mapping of Reel #2, and...
2- The layout for Reel #2 is NOT the same as any posted by K2 coins, which are shown below

Post #265 by K2Coins Reel 2: loco, blank, melon, bar, melon, blank, melon, loco, melon, blank, melon, bar, melon, bar, melon, bar, loco, blank, melon, blank, bar, melon, blank
    Post #318 by K2Coins Reel 2:
loco, blank, melon, bar, melon, blank, melon, loco, melon, blank, melon, bar, melon, blank, melon, bar, loco, blank, melon, bar, melon, blank
Post #681 by K2Coins Reel 2: loco, blank, melon, bar, melon, blank, melon, loco, melon, blank, melon, bar, melon, blank, melon, bar, loco, blank, melon, bar, melon, blank

Explanation: K2Coins was already awarded One Numismatic Prize in this contest for correctly mapping Reels 1 and 3 and correctly disproving my mapping of Reel #2.

K2Coins is still eligible to win another prize if his corrected map in Post #318 (reposted in Post #681) is accurate.

If any eligible player (including K2coins) is first to post a different map than the mappings in Posts 265 and 318/681 and the new map is correct, the player wins One Numismatic Prize.

Please note: We can be reasonably certain that the guess by K2Coins in Post #265 is not correct, since it contains 23 symbols, not 22. This means we are certain to award one more prize in this contest. Since this contest remains 'open', our new contest will not be announced or begin until this contest is officially 'closed'. Also, unclaimed prizes in this contest may be claimed until this contest is officially 'closed', as per contest rules.

All Reel Guesses must be posted in this thread to be eligible.

An additional post discussing our next Slot Machine Contest will follow later today or tomorrow. Our next Slot Machine Contest should be our best yet.

I am going to stick to my last guess on post #681. I have not had a chance to look over the reels (via iphone) so my guess may not be correct. Good luck to whoever wants to attempt on mapping the reels!!!

Slot Machine Contest #3 Assistance Needed

I hope to begin another Slot Machine Contest soon after the official close of this contest.

One of the ideas I'm considering is to replace the symbols on one of the Slot Machines with a 'Custom Set' of symbols, and design those symbol layouts to generate odds of my choosing rather than having to create a contest around the actual odds of a machine formerly used in casino gaming.

For now, I'd rather not reveal more about my idea than what I've already said, but I do need some help. Is anyone artistically inclined?

I'm seeking someone willing to design the symbol overlays for the reels to the specifications necessary to 'overlay' them onto the machine. Someone with graphic arts experience, perhaps, or someone who wants to create some custom art (for the symbols) and re-print the symbols in the desired quantity and order for an overlay strip. You'll be provided with the size specifictions etc. I'm also open to other ideas to make the custom symbol idea work.

I already know basically what symbols I wish to use, and the number of symbols necessary for each reel strip. What remains to be decided is the number of each particular symbol and the specific layout on each reel to generate the desired odds for a quality contest.

If you have a creative flair and think you can help generate our Reel Strips for Slot Contest #3, please send me a Private Message.

For the rest of you, our Reel Mapping challenge (for Reel #2) is still open.

Can you map dice if I print the dice and place the symbols on the reels of a Slot Machine?
