Do you think this coin looks cleaned? What would you grade it?

Trick? What are yall talking about? I just want your input on it. I was thinking about buying it. Does the mint mark look ok? I know theyre sometimes scammed.
Sorry for being skeptical. Since the seller has a money back guarantee, it would be safe to buy it and have it examined to verify it's authenticity. Here's some additional info on the 32D quarter: http://numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=14667 http://blog.davidlawrence.com/index.php/washington-quarters-1932-d/
does it appear ok to you and if so, what would you grade it? It looks fantastic to me except for the tad bit of discoloration in 'united'
Personally, it looks good, however, I've only had one in hand and it was a counterfeit that a dealer was showing at a local coin show. It had a mintmark that was applied. It would be best to wait for some of the other members (when they finally wake up) to have a look at it.
To me it appears that it hasnt been cleaned. The "united" part you are speaking of, if it was cleaned the top of the lettering would be light and the field behind it would be "dark" in your case both are dark. Everything looks good to me. If you are concerned with it, then be a little cautious with how much you pay for it.
These have been faked since God was a high school freshman. I cannot tell easily from the photograph if the mintmark is correct, since they were struck heavily into the coin. I will tell you there is probably a reason this coin is not slabbed. Being a key date, high grade, heavily faked coin is three reasons for it to be slabbed. Not being slabbed would make me extremely nervous, (and this coming from one of the more outspoken critics of slabbing on this board).
At the very least that quarter is an AU58, you really got to get it in hand to know for sure. The quarter looks great, may even be MS64 but in today's world of photography and all the options therein, you will never know unless you get that sucker in hand. :thumb:
That coin looks fine. It doesn't look cleaned and the mint mark looks to be proper size, shape and position. Personally, I like it!
This 1962 D quarter appears to have the same little 'curvy place between the D and O of DOLLAR. I looked at others by googling 'Washington quarter mark d' and a lot of them seemed to have it.
If you read david lawrences complete guide to Washington quarters, it states that counterfeit coins have become so good the only way to be sure is to have it looked at by an expert. It goes on to explain that an expert will look at the mint mark area with a microscope capable of 300X zoom, looking for the evidence of where the mint mark was soldered... Just some food for thought, the book can actually be read for free just cant remember where.
You wouldn't be talking about this would you? http://blog.davidlawrence.com/index.php/reference-books/the-complete-guide-to-washington-quarters/
I knew someone would come through...lol but seriously if your interested in washington quarters not a bad read...
