So I went to my local coin shop to sell my 1915 Barber half PCGS VG-8, and found a dealer who gave me a good offer, so I took it, then proceeded to browse coins. Somebody came into the shop for a quick buck selling a silver half and Morgan Dollar. Well I noticed the half was a seated half, and the people only wanted $30 for the both. So the dealer took the offer. They took the money and scurried off. The dealer whom I talk to much and am on a pretty good basis with, shows the half to me and I comment that I like its original patina. He says "Do you want it?" To which I reply "If the price is right." He pulls his greysheet out and tells me $20 I take a look at and notice some small scratches under the eagle, but I said "Sounds like a deal." I hand him the money and then pocketed the coin without further engagement and proceeded to look at coins. When I was done, we went on to another coin shoppe and bought a few more. Then we went home. When I came home and imaged them, I noticed the scratches in the photos, but then zoomed. I saw this: That's right! I thought those two C's were scratches! I fell outta my chair when I saw that! Here's the rest of the coin. I got a nice, wholesome and original Seated Half for $20 and couldn't be more happy. Oh, and I am so excited! I was going to start the thread by naming it "My dad's face has a rash..." and then open with "Because I was busy rubbing this in it!" ~Cannyn
Thanks guys! I am happy to be the owner of this piece. As for that, I guess it is just the luck of the draw. Right place, right time
The funniest part of this is was I wanted to get a CC Coin, but couldn't justify spending $68 on a worn Morgan.
