It's not that. It's just that they didn't start making the satin finish until 2005, so there wouldn't be any satin finish coins for the first 6 years of the State Quarter program. Chris
I know they are available through JP's Corner, but you'd have to inquire about the overseas shipping. Note that you can get albums for collecting the SQ's different ways........one coin for each state, one coin of each mintmark for each state, all mintmarks, etc. http://www.jpscorner.com/Dansco_Coin_Albums.htm Chris
Herman, I haven't located a Dansco album for the State Quarters (1999-2008) that goes shipping world wide, but here is a link for the ebay belgium for one for the National Parks series that will ship worldwide: http://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/Dansco-...697?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5649afd979
thank you. Only thing i do not understand is why only the P and D mintmarks in it. What about the S mintmarks then?
Most of the books assume you will only collect the ones that were to be released into circulation (the normal clad composition). The S mintmarked quarters for the State Quarters, and the following were never intended to be released into circulation, and they were all of a Silver composition rather than clad -- before this year with the 2012 ATB (America the Beautiful) ones. Many people who collect that series never give it any thought to be "complete" with silver proof coins. But those books will probably be "wrong" as now, this year, the mint is putting out special clad composition S quarters, starting with the El Yunque one. They are not intended for circulation, but the mint will make them available for "collectors". I actually ordered a bag of 100 of these, so I will keep the ones I want of those. I guess the mint will determine by how many people are ordering these if they will continue this.
So if i collect only the P and D ones acording to the dansco book i will have all the ones that went in circulation. If i use the S ones to none of them where ment for circulation. correct? Regards Herman
Thank you. Here is how i decided to do it. I am going to collect year by year. So first the ones from 1999 P and D The 2000 P and D .... After i have all of these i am going to start gathering the S ones from each year. I think this way will be the easyest for me to complete the set. Also i am going to try to get this album for them: http://www.danscoalbumstore.com/statehood-quarters-19992003-proof-dansco-8143-p-2028.html Looks like the album i need for it where i can put all of the (including the S mintmarks) in Regards Herman
I have some state quarter holders for this type of collection that have never been used if you aren't able to get those. It's a black cardboard-ish type flip-open folder which has spots for all 50 coins, and a corresponding map of the states. I will try to get and post a picture of it later so you can see what it looks like. I'm willing to ship this out to you internationally if I can figure out how... -Gary
Here is a company in Europe (Norway) that sells Dansco albums: http://www.coins-and-banknotes.com/...IN-album/Coin-Albums-for-USA-and-CANADA-coins Leuchtturm/Lighthouse also has an album for state quarters: http://www.leuchtturm.com/epages/le...jectPath=/Shops/leuchtturm_eu/Products/341626 Christian
That's the one, Herman, but before you start putting coins into it, stop back here because you have to be careful reinserting the slides after the coins are in place. Otherwise, the plastic might scrape the coins. Chris
Although opinions differ about the State/Territory Quarters, IMO, unless you’re able to identify high grade uncirculated examples of the circulation issues, they should be collected for fun, as opposed to profit. On the other hand, IMO, the only ones that have potential for profit are the low mintage satin finish ones included in mint sets from 2005 to 2009 and the silvers proofs included in silver proof sets from 1999 to 2009.
how can the plastic scrape the coins? Isnt acoin harder than plastic (not that i do not want to believe you, but for me it seems strange) Thank you all for the tips. Just ebay'ed my first coins for this set.
i hear ya On this moment all the state coins that are in the collection are placed in square holders with a plastic round screen on them. I think i will do the same with the new ones that i bought and when i have the collection completed i will try to buy that album. Regards Herman
I assume that you are referring to the 2x2 cardboard holders with mylar covering the viewport. This would probably be the easiest and cheapest thing to use for the time being, but again, there is a caveat attached. You really should use a "flat-cinch" stapler. You see, a standard stapler causes the points to curve inward in an arc which creates a high point at the top of the curve. This can scratch a coin in another 2x2 if you're not careful. Chris
thank you for that tip. I know my brother always used a regular stapler, but he had made a small tool to flatten the staples before he putted them away. I always tought he was crazy for doing that, but now i know why he did it like that. regards Herman
I have still not recieved the coins i bought on Ebay. When i mail the seller i get no response. I ordered them on the 18th of this month. Should i wait a bit longer or should i start to worry? If i do not recieve them, what can i do then?
Herman, there are some sellers who have a large amount of business through eBay, so they may take a little longer than you might expect. You didn't say if this order was from a seller stateside or in Europe. I usually try to allow 14 days when ordering from Europe, but the sellers I've used generally get their shipments out pretty quickly. It is a concern that the seller has not responded to your inquiry, though. If I were you, I would send him one more e-mail and tell him that if you don't receive a response within 48-72 hours that you will have no choice but to file a claim through Pay Pal (I assume that you did use Pay Pal.) and leave the appropriate negative feedback with eBay. Chris
Thank you for the tip. If Wednesday i have not received his package yet i will send him a mail again where i will tell him what you said. I do hope i get the package tough. I will keep you informed. Regards Herman
