Here is another coin from a mint set... I actually had the courage to pull this coin from the celo (feel free to commend me for my act of bravery!).

My questions: 1) is the mintmark RPM? 2) Does the Y, 1 and E show real doubling?

I checked CONECA and didn't see anything that matched.

As always, thanks for entertaining my posts!

No on both. Appears to be die deterioration. Mint cello is not the best storage packaging, as small damage can be undetected.

Bummer. I guess I'll only ask $300 on ebay then ;)

    Thanks for info!

I don't see much either. It is possible that you're seeing more than we are by having the coin in hand, but you can often start seeing doubling that isn't there! I would say no on the doubling, since with the doubled devices spread so far over the coin, I would expect it to be visible in more locations. There doesn't appear to be an obvious RPM, but maybe there's something at the top of the lower serif of the 'S', but that could be straining it.

Looks like this will have a place in my Whitman folder. And, yes, I am the king of seeing phantom errors. I appreciate all the responses.

$300??!! Now I know why you think everything is doubled!
