So I was going through my spare change and found this grey penny. The edges are really raised and they are flat. I cant read the date as the edges cut off the "LI" in liberty and the 1990's last digit is cut off too. Can someone please help me figure out the worth of this coin?

    Welcome to CT nickelsanddimes.

That cent appears to have been a science experiment and then the rim was rolled or 'spooned'. In other words, post mint damage.

I suspect that a copper-coated zinc cent was caught in a rotating machine (like a clothes dryer). It rolled around repeatedly & was abrasively struck with debris (like in a clothes dryer). The result is a cent with rolled thick edges and the copper coating is abraded away.

PMD = post mint damage & not considered a mint error. It is an interesting coin. For 1-cent, it is a keeper.

Your cent looks like a dryer coin. (Do a search for "dryer coin" and you will find numerous threads with an explanation.)

And the copper plating on your coin has somehow been removed leaving the zinc core exposed.
