http://www.ebay.com/itm/22106973601...item3378c87851&autorefresh=true#ht_500wt_1200 Can anybody tell me why its counterfeit?
Just seeing if you notice why its counterfeit...... The bold "N" in ONE on the reverse was not used in 1869.
Well, the ones I see on Heritage are and my copy of teh Professional Red Book says the weak N's were from the 1870's.
If you want to report it to a live person, this is the link: http://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...+Listing+Policies+for+Sellers+>+Selling+Coins It works much better than the automated system that you get if you click the 'Report' link in the auction.
http://www.noblecoins.org/infopages/shallown.html Here is an article written by Rick Snow explaining the shallow N.
It require YOUR password in the link. And I absolutely am signed into eBay and reporting counterfeits. contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ContactUs&userid=&pass=&wftype=2022&rcode=BN%P10072&subject=Selling+Coins&bcrumb=Topics+>+eBay+Policies+>+Rules+for+Sellers+>+Listing+Policies+for+Sellers+>+Selling+Coin
Gotcha. It must have incorporated my info into the link since I was signed in when I copy/pasted. I have shared this link before, and it worked. It was probably because I had copy/pasted when I was not signed in, so it didn't associate the link with my ID. That's all I can figure. I'll sign out and recopy the link.
I think the photo is pretty poor to make a call about the N. Both the lighting and focus are bad enough that you may just see bold when it really isn't. Just curious was this auction reported or not?
I am sure someone reported it, but I did not. Every picture I found on Heritage (save one) showed a not weak "N". It looked like a hollow (for the lack of a better term) "N" in varying degrees for the other 10 or so I looked at.
