That's just it though. The chatter seen in the auction photos aren't there except for a couple spots. The photos I took show what coin's appearance much more accurately...that's why I used them. That is why I was so surprised when I got the coin in hand...because it was so much better than I expected.
I think it's lighting. I think they were really trying to emphasize the proofy look of the coin...which they did successfully. But, in the process made the coin look much more marked up.
Yeah.. this pics didn't do a good job showing the noise or magnitude of them.. agree with 64 based on those latest pics.
Pictures can hide things on a coin due to lighting or angle, but they cannot put things there that are not there. Had I seen the auction pics, I would have said 63 all day long. Are you sure you got the coin that was in that was in the auction pics ? Did they show a pic of the whole slab so you can check the serial numbers ?
They do not look like the same coin to me. There seems to be spots in the first pic that are not in the second pic. TC
Yes, the slab numbers match up...they are the same coin. I have tried to replicate their photo and I can't seem to do it. Whatever they did made the coin look horrible. Honestly, the only scuffs on the coin that are affecting eye appeal are those 3 vertical marks on Washington's neck. There are a couple little dings near the pony tail too...but other than that the coin is mark free. I was honestly shocked when it arrived so I double checked the serial numbers and they are the same.
Oh, and I did a bit of playing around to make the prongs white like they are and it made the whole coin look like this: IMO it kinda makes the fields look a little more prooflike and the quarter a little better on color.
Wow; nice coin; it does look proof like. I'm at an MS68. I can't understand the reason to downgrade it to anything less than an MS67. I almost want to say PF67 or PF68.
