Fingerprint, fingerprint, I don't see no stinkin fingerprint! If you still do see it, an acetone dip would not be a bad thing, but a xylene dip would be even better. If you dip it, be careful to handle it with gloves or with freshly washed and dried hands and blot the coin dry, do not wipe or rub it.
It really doesn't take much time at all for the surface of the coin to permanently altered by a fingerprint. I would say that if a print has been there for more than a couple days, the damage is done.
If you haven't cracked out the second one DON"T!! I want it. I've never heard of this "grading service" and I don't have one of their slabs. PM sent.
Your Honor, I swear, I never touched her! Here's the proof! I didn't think it was on the coin. In the pics in the case her portrait looked similarly scuffed up. Handsome girl you got there. :thumb:
When I first saw this thread I immediately seached google for "MCPCG coin" and nothing came up except some references to similar eBay auctions. Now when I search, there are proxibid and icollector auctions running with these slabs. There are numerous references to Texas in the search results so maybe the source is located there. The towns of Florence and West Lake Hills are mentioned. Hope that helps in hunting these slabs down.
Not entirely true if one wants to do more damage by rubbing it with their cotton shirt to remove such finger print
Florence shouldn't be too hard of a city to find the maker.. it's only got a population of like 1000 people. It's so small, I don't even think they have a Dairy Queen either..
haha I bought this through Proxibid! The experience was a little shady but I think there are better online auctions out there such as teletrade!
