I will admit that I am an amateur/noob/green buyer that purchased this:

    Susan B Anthony - 1979 S TYPE 1 - PF69 CAMEO (MCPCG)

Are these finger-prints?? Sorry the image may look a little distorted as the plastic slab is scratched up. I assume that MCPCG is a 3rd party grader and I think my future purchases will be certified graders... Anyways here is the picture, let me know if you think this is a fingerprint.

Oh... and I only paid $5.00 for it...

MCPCG is not a grader that I would recommend for reasons just like this. Use PCGS, NGC or ANACS. Even ICG would never allow that to pass.

Well, at least you have the culprit's fingerprints. Run it by your local police HQ and see if they can catch this outrageous crook ;)

Wow!! Well I guess it's beginners mistake. And I bought two of these coins, both fingerprinted. I will try to sell them for what I paid..

You can crack them out and see if a little acetone will get rid of the finger print. Loosing the holder wouldn't be any loss.

If i recall, i remember doug once saying in a previous thread that if the fingerprint has been set in for days, acetone will do little. Fingerprints need to be adressed as soon as possible

True. The print has already begun to etch it's marker. Best to deal with prints right away.

Fingerprints on shiny coins do not look good. Crack it out and acetone the coin. And I don't know if its the holder but the whole coin looks a bit dirty.

The holder is scratched up pretty good. I guess I will crack it out and plug it into my board.

The plastic over the coin is what looks dirty. Could it be that the fingerprint is merely on the holder and not the coin? I would try giving the holder itself a good cleaning before removing the coin from the holder.

It is true that a fingerprint can etch into a coins surface, but it does take some time. I have no idea how long that fingerprint has been there, but it may just come off. I don't think that it could do any further harm.

Yes it is a fingerprint, and I never heard of that TPG. Shame, as that could have been a nice coin.

I am going to crack the case open and I will rescan it so you can see it without the case scratches. It did look like an amazing coin if the mountain fingerprints were missing!!

Tonight I will crack the case open and rescan the coin to show the difference.
