Need verification on 1883/2 Shield Nickel

    Don't know what a 1883/2 nickel looks like. Could this be one ?

    So what is the verdict? A mushy 2? That would be my take on it from that webpage provided. Nice nickel either way.

    No - this is a 1882 filled two nickel. Some sellers like to list these as 1883/2 - but they are not and can be an expensive lesson. The link above shows what the 1883/2 varieties look like and what a filled two looks like.

    It is a die chip that is commonly mistaken as the overdate. It has no premium in value.
