mostly for fun- let us know what coins are hot and which ones are not. HOT Ikes (non-silver ms65 or better) Silver Eagles (all of the special coins and lower mintage offerings make these hot) high grade slabbed (non-satin) dimes 2005-2009 NOT 2005 Buffalo nickels (too many) 1970's proof coinage have fun
When I was first starting to collect in 2009 I was finding nice capped bust halves in xf for about 120 or so, and ones in au for about 300, lately I have seen those prices escalate, but for all I know I have been looking in the wrong places.
Good question, this sale here was hot for the buyer but not for the seller. Dang, wish I would have gotten the deal. As far as what is not hot goes I hear the 1909 Lincoln Cent S VDB has been going down a tad in price over the last few years, I don't really know that much about it. Just something I heard, anyone know the score on the VDB? http://www.ebay.com/itm/230821405505?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
From what I have seen them going for and the amount of people bidding on them at auction and the prices their fetching I would say these are hot: Barber halves and quarters any grade seated coins any grade Morgans large cents any of the bust coins standing quarters VG+, below that go into junk bins IHC are still pretty popular with collectors and never see any not get a bidder unless the price is too high Not: Mercury dimes, many can be acquired at melt in junk silver bins buffalo nickels, dealer wouldn't even buy mine at any price because he had too many and have seen tons of them in a dollar bin. Modern dimes, quarters and nickels-silver coins only worth melt and uncirculated can be had for close to face. World coins like obsolete Europeans, I bought some at a flea market thinking they may be silver and was afraid that I would end up paying someone to take them. These go for practically nothing
I think this in coins right now Hot: Silver eagles Barbers Morgan dollars Not: Mercs later date wheats
Hot: Silver coins in general Barber Quarters / Halfs <--- (Barber Quarters = Hansel in the video below) WL & Franklin Halfs Silver Dollars Indian Head Pennies Not So Hot: Copper pennies (sold as bullion) Wheats Non-silver US coins not intended for circulation (1990-present)
