That's not necessarily true. Though I agree that moderns stars are not worth as nearly as much, seeing as this note has both a low serial number with star, I believe it is worth SOMETHING over face. I'm no expert in paper though, so I'll wait on another more edgamakated member to give a better anwser. C.J.
Your note seems to have a reasonably low S/N, but even lower is always preferable. There are several sites where you can search for the run this bill was in. The lower the run, the better chance of a premium (usually).
I am not sure how good his prices are, but the Schwartz/Lindquist guide lists a chcu specimen as being 160$ The Freidberg guide lists one at 150$, so unless it is a pristine note it is probably worth about face, a spender.
Decided to check and the run size is 3,200,000. I would spend the bill on a coin that has a better chance of appreciating in value.
