I've gathered some coins for a small type set starting around 1900 and I'm not really sure how I want to organize them in my pages with labels. Any suggestions would be great :D it has 3 more pennies, but I didn't have them in the sheet when I took the scan obviously.

I enjoy working on my type set...I use a dansco 7070 album.

I was thinking about it, but I can't really afford to buy the rest of the coins I need to fill up the book... I'm sure you know they aren't cheap, not even mentioning the gold page!

I didn't include the gold page in my album...That is the great thing about a type set, you can include whichever coins you want. I agree that some of the coins aren't cheap, but usually people spend many years putting together a set of coins that match. Some folks might treat it as a race and see how fast they can fill the album, but you will get more enjoyment and end up with a better set if you take your time.

I printed out squares (2x2) which listed the type and years for each coin, I slipped these pieces of paper into each square in row number 1 and 3 (on the same type of pages you have). I then put the actual coins into rows 2 and 4. This way if I hadn't picked up a coin yet the information is there for the coin but there is a blank spot showing that I still need to purchase that coin. I will probably work on making it a bit nicer as I get closer to finishing the set.

I don't have a good picture but here is one I took to inventory my safety deposit box...

Thanks. One nice thing is that if I purchase a graded coin I just take a picture, make a copy, and slip in the photo instead of the coin. It really makes gaps obvious and pushes me to fill them sooner. (Three of the gaps in the photo are already filled)

    Indeed, a nice idea Camlov2.

I used to take my raw coins and photograph them, print at baseball card size with 'Statictics' (mintage, designer/ergraver, metal content, series info) and add a personal note for each coin that 'had a story' (such as how and where I acquired the coin). The 'baseball coin cards' fit nicely into album pages designed for the real baseball cards, and allowed me to display my collection while keeping the coins safely stored off site. Alas, as I progressed to a primarily slabbed collection, I gave up on printing the labor-intensive 'baseball coin cards'.

Since pballer's set starts at 1900 it would be very easy to do affordably, it would just be a matter of finding the coin that speaks to you. For an example look at pballer's Standing Liberty Quarter, it is a nice example that shows all words/dates clearly, the outline of the figure is clear and you can see the major details on the coin. I can't tell the specific grade on the coin but you could probably find a f-15 for under $50. (we do need to ignore the standing Liberty that moneylover posted because it probably cost more then my collection)

I have decided to start my typeset at 1800 and even most of that can be resonable if you allow circulated coins. I still haven't done the oldest coins but all but two of my purchases have been under $80. I decided to pay for a graded Trade dollar due to the number of fakes. Also a graded Braided Hair half cent because the braided hair coins are my favorite.

Now the question for Pballer, Are you done or do you think you will get sucked into expanding the collection?

All the coins I have in my type set (except for the barber half, barber quarter, and standing liberty quarter) I found from roll searching :) I actually haven't bought a whole lot of coins so I don't think I will be buying any for awhile, although I just did get a new job starting monday and I'm going to have more money than I know what to spend it on  so who knows what I'm going to do with it! Oh, and theres a shield nickel in there... so I think I have all the nickels! (even though it's in very bad condition, probably like G-4)
