Has anyone ever heard of/seen an inverted S on a 45-S half?

Ok, I stopped looking at coins for an hour to gain some clarity. But, I still see it. I was going to put this in a lot I listed on eBay, but now think it would be better on it's own. Would there be any isues listing it as a "possible variety"?

Nothing in the Cherry pickers I have the 4th addition about it and I'm not seeing anything that says it is what your thinking. Possibly a hit on the MM?

It;s possible. I snapped it upside down & the center section even seems to narrow up as a right side up one should. I gotta quit looking at this thing for the night, lol.

Keep in mind that this is still when they used handheld MMs punched into the dies. It's possible they had multiple MM punches during these years. I can't recall when the MM changes occurred, but try looking at S mint halves before and after 1945 and see if they change.

It's not in the 5th Edition of the CPG either. Have you checked CONECA listings?

I think the OP would be making a mistake trying to sell it on eBay with the claim of a "possible variety". Unfounded statements can only get you less than stellar feedback.

Yes, Chris. My feedback is very important to me. Maybe I'll pull out the 20X to look for a hit. If nothing else I'll hold on to her as a novelty.

Sorry, but that "S" looks normal to me. The ball serif is at the bottom like it should be. Check the varieties of mint marks used for that period, but I really think it's a normal one.
