Anyone else despise the new coin listing format for E bay? It makes it far more difficult for searching by condition or TPG. Yes, one can type in the criteria, but now it is harder to look for certain coins by TPG and grade--for example, look for a 1936 Buffalo Nickel PCGS MS. Not as easy as it was, right? I realize that this was changed due to the E bay policy about not posting grades for anything not evaluated by a few select TPG companies, but this is definitely far less convenient for the collector. Comments, anyone? I picked that coin at random, and here's the "new look." UGGGGGGHHH! http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=buffalo+nickel+1936+PCGS&_sacat=0
Maybe it is the way you do a search that is causing the problem. When I am looking for a particular type of coin such as the 1936 Buffalo Nickel PCGS MS that you mentioned. I click on the Us coin category, then nickels, then buffalo nickels. Type in the date in the search bar and then click on PCGS. 39 results come up.
I just use 1936 Buffalo PCGS http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313&_nkw=1936+Buffalo+PCGS&_sacat=0 40 results!
You could check the grade, TPG, and other options. Now, it all has to be done manually. Previously, there was a menu to help refine searches.
I never used the menus on the side to check graded vs. non-graded coins. Why you may ask? Because, that assumed that the sellers had entered them correctly. Some of my best purchases on eBay have been using wildcard searches that did not rely on the grouping of things by eBay into grades, TPGs, heck even denominations. For example, a few months ago I purchased a 1909 VDB NGC graded cent in MS66RD on eBay for $112.50. It was because the seller had classified it in the Roosevelt dime 1965-present category and the title did not include NGC anywhere. My search was simply "VDB MS* 66 (cent*, penny*, Lincoln)". Given the wildcard capabilities on eBay, that is more than enough power to find what you are looking for. ------------------------------------------- Want PCGS, NGC or ANACS slabs of MS graded coins? -- "(PCGS, NGC, ANACS) MS*" Want PCGS or NGC graded Merc Dimes in MS66FB or MS67FB? -- "(PCGS, NGC) MS* (66, 67) FB (191*, 192*, 193*, 194*) (Merc*, dime*) -Roos*" Just a few of many, many examples of maximizing your search capabilities on eBay. Good luck, -Brandon
+1 Yup, this is exactly how I find coins too. Never used ebay categories or any of the left hand side options. Just advanced search query as you outlined above.
