I sniped this auction from somebody. Somebody's max bid was $2.50 with shipping so it is worth that to somebody. They say they give a grade of F15. What do you think of the price and grade? I bought it to get the free $5 from Bill Me Later. http://www.ebay.com/itm/140790637112?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I think that the F15 was pretty good. It isn't a bad price for the coin but not necessarily a great deal.
Looking at the history, it looks ok. It was worth $1.50 and a $1 shipping to somebody. I bid $1.25 and their max bid kicked in and bid another quarter. I think it is ok since I spent money on gas to get to a coin show where I bought a VG 1899 for $2. The $1 shipping would easily be gas spent plus now I get free $5 in Ebay Bucks for Bill Me Later. At least this coin has a full liberty too.
Actually I paid $2.68 with my 7 cents in Ebay Bucks (lol)). With my Bill Me Later Ebay Bucks I was paid $2.32 to take it. Well it's $5 in Ebay bucks that I will get in October, a couple months before Christmas. Its a stocking stuffer gift.
It does appear to have some problems to the left of the shield on the reverse, but I couldn't magnify the photo enough to see. I would use acetone and a fresh before putting it away. just in case. Fair deal IMO.
Bill Me Later does a credit score check before accepting your transaction - but that's after the auction closes, of course. If your score is low or you're not carrying any debt, Bill Me Later will refuse the transaction.
You think I should drop it acetone? I think I rather just leave it as is seeing how some collectors like their dirt. It says that this was sold by some old time collectors so I don't believe they would mistreat it but I tend to just leave them alone unless I get them from a disgusting roll or their is gunk stuck to the mintmark or something. As long it isn't something would damage the coin later of course. Do you see something that could cause later damage? If not let the next owner do it. I would think that most old circulated coins have some type of problem associated with them. I will scan and post it when I get it to check to see if there is anything that could cause future damage though. If not I am just going to stick it in some air-tight I was sold by mistake (wanted a quarter holder but the dealer sold me the wrong size).
I can't see what desertgen mentioned in the new pictures, but I could in the original. From your pictures I would leave it alone - for the original I would follow his advice. You have the coin in hand and get to make the final decision. Also looks like a fair deal in my opinion.
I am leaving it alone. Looks good to me, I see no reason to do anything to it. I am going to leave it alone but will probably take it out of the 2X2 and put it in this penny sized air-tight I was sold by mistake. I was looking to by a quarter air-tight.
