"The best coin of 2011" contest has been held in the National Bank of Ukraine. The jury of 18 judges has defined the winners in three nominations, ForUm corespondnet reports.

I don't quite get this. The article mentions three winners, a 50 hryven' silver piece, a 100 h. gold piece, and a 20 h. silver piece. But the image shows a fiver. Huh?

Besides ... in my opinion it is somewhat strange anyway if the central bank chooses the best coins among the pieces that this very central bank issued.

These are not fist fights, this is how they get things DONE.

Personally, I love their 2011 5 hryvnia coin dedicated to traditional parliament debates:

    Is that a winning coin?

Yes, it started several fist fights among the jury judges but eventually won numerous nominations.

Not sure where you can buy Taxidermist's coin. :) But such parliament fights are not a Ukrainian specialty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3DHKni1mu8

(The Cuban scene is a spoof of course. But Alabama ...)

Can't find it hm.... well it IS a very limited issue. Try posting this image on some Ukrainian collectors forum, I`m sure you will get a lot of very helpful replies and advices.

Those Soviet countries are nuts, so I wouldn't put it past them making a coin like that. Poland made a coin with a plane crashing to commemorate the Presidents death a few years back.

Quite tasteless in my opinion. Lech Kaczyński and his brother Jarosław (who is still alive) were/are certainly very controversial political figures. But don't you think there is a difference between depicting a fight in parliament, and mourning over the tragic death of almost 100 people, including the Polish president, members of parliament and the head of the central bank?

The coin, or rather coins, that you mentioned are depicted (and explained, English version) here by the way: http://www.nbp.pl/en/banknoty/kolek...molensk-pamieci_ofiar_10_kwietnia_2010_en.pdf

Sure, I can see the difference between the two. But when I hear stories from my wife, who is Russian, it doesn't surprise me to see things like that.
