I can't belive this. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/man-makes-final-house-payment-pennies-144051687.html
I would tell him to bring it back tomorrow. If he did I would tell him to bring it back the next day. Fair is fair.
I can! Freedom is always a reason to celebrate! It's quirky, fun, and obviously noteworthy. *heh* I think it's awesome. My wife and I have something similarly entertaining planned for our final one, for the same reasons. In heaven's name why? The guy'd been planning this for years, and alerted the bank ahead of time to allow them to plan for or request any accommodations, and has found a wonderful teachable moment for his grandchildren...and you want to create hassle out of some sense of "fair" play? You have a strange sense of fairness, sir.
"62,000 pennies in two steel crates weighing approximately 400 pounds apiece." And the Savings and Loan is going to do what with this. Maybe they had a forklift.
I'd presume they're going to dispose of/handle them by some appropriate means which they'd planned for ahead of time. We're only talking about 800 lbs here...not like it's a few tons requiring a special truck or something. :rollling:
Kind of childish. I mean you don't have to take a mortgage. But a lender allows you to borrow money to own a home, so you take the final payment in pennies. Give me a break. He should have deposited those in an account over the time he saved them, earned a bit of interest and wrote a check like people with normal and above IQs do. At least he did notify the institution he was bring the pennies in. But to roll searchers who are having trouble because banks don;t want to spend the additional money to handle coins, this is an eye opener. That institution has to spend the time to count, and handle these crates of cents just because one client happens to be a moron. Give me a break ! gary
The story is BS. Most real estate transactions and mortgage payments stipulate payment electronically, or by check. No lender would accept 62,000 pennies--bogus story.
I love this guy. More power to him. Power to the people! what will the bank do with them? It's only 25 boxes (just a bit under actually) They will go through those in a week or two, no problem. Send an alert to all the roll searchers, and they will go in a day or two.
