Guys, look at the reverse picture just inside the rim and all the way around. See the groove? This is afake rotated die error made in the same way as a two headed or two tailed coin. (Probably they put the wrong insert into it.)

 

Absolutely. This is a genuine coin that has been cut apart and then put back together again with the reverse rotated in relation to the front. And that is why it doesn't have the same ring as a normal coin (because the internal structure has been disturbed).

Now the question is why would anyone do this. I can think of a couple possibilities.
1. Someone who was making two-headed novelties made an error and disposed of their mistake by spending it.
2. If the coin is lighter than normal, perhaps there is a hidden cavity inside for smuggling ?

You guys were right! I looked at it closely, and there was a line. I popped it open, and found something pretty cool. Here's what it looks like after I opened it.

I have since found 2 more, so I'm up to 3. I'm currently trying to open those up. When I do, if they are different, I will post pics.

 

I got the other 2 open, same kind of thing, it's just that the bird is facing the other way.

The part that says "estados unidos mexicanos" looks like it is glued or something on the back of the coin because there is definatly 2 metals that were joined.

Are you saying you found three just like it ?
I suspect a heroin smuggling operation.
If so, they probably put the Mexican coins inside for the trip south so that the coins have appropriate weight when crossing the border. On the trip back, the coins are filled with who-knows what.

You might want to contact law enforcement.

 

Thats what I'm saying, I just found 3 coins like that. I thought that one coin was cool, but 3 is weird. If it did hold some kind of drug, it would be the smallest amount known to mankind. I'll let you guys know if I find anymore of them.
