I spare no expense when storing my miscellaneous coins. Does anybody know where I can find an empty cigar box when the one I'm using wears out?

Try your local tobacco store. Or yard sales.

There's just gotta be an empty cigar box somewhere in Reno.

It's a lot of ground to cover.

I wonder if there would be a stong tobacco smell if I got one at a tobacco store.

How about a cardboard school / pencil box at an office supply store ?

They's have to be short enough to fit into my safe depost box.

Well, the cigar box is 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 X 2 1/2, and it barely fits, along with all the other stuff I have in it.

I would think about getting a bigger safe deposit box. Maybe the next size up from what you have now. The price increase from one size to the next generally isn't that much and as you continue to collect, you're eventually going to need a larger size anyway. Tobacco causes toning so if you're not a fan of toned coins, I would suggest getting an actual box meant to store coins in.

Why do you store miscellaneous coins in your saftey deposit box?, are they silver?

    Try getting a larger SDB.

I've quite a few of them and don't want them stolen.

I think I'd have to pay at least another $30 per year. The box I have now ($40) is a perfect fit for the coins I have.

Thanks for the tip about the toning, though the box doesn't have a cigar smell, so either it never carried cigars, or it is so old that the smell has disappeared. Could it STILL tone my coins? I have them in flips.

Wooden cigar boxes can tone coins, regardless of smell. Try finding a plastic container for food which I think is safe.

Hit up the local flea market or junk mall or whatever you call it. You can always find cigar boxes there of varying sizes. Find one in the size you need and hope it isn't overpriced :p

There are a lot of place where every one can safe their coins better.
