Just a shout out to those of you I met there.

We survived, but the weather was certainly crazy. Nothing like 100 degrees, raging fires, and low humidity:

Fortunately, we didn't have to evacuate the campus.

We had thunderstorms yesterday afternoon. More wind than rain but the little bit of rain that fell on the fire helped (and the wind apparently did not create another firestorm like a week earlier). The latest report I heard said the Waldo Canyon Fire is now 100% contained (but that does not mean it is out - that could take another week or 10 days).

I have one more day of class and then the closing banquet. I am on standby for FEMA to inspect houses for applicant who were affected by the fire. That work could start any day.

Yep, after two weeks I'm ready to go home.
I live close to sea level and this 6000' altitude is giving me grief.
I can walk here and I can talk here BUT walking and talking at the same time leaves me puffing.
And the heat with no A/C in the room isn't making me feel better either.
    But the food is good.

This last week was absolutely amazing. It was nice to meet David (Kanga) and I enjoyed being in class with him. We raised over $30,000 at the auction, I was able to find a few nice coins at the coin show, my grading skills improved sharply and it was another great Summer Seminar experience. I'm ready to register for next year already!

You’ve got to get one of those electric buggies so you can speed between the dorm, cafeteria, and class room.

As I recall, the windows in the new dorm wouldn't fit a window air-conditioner. That's too bad because you could buy a small window unit at the local Walmart & then donate it to the YN auction (when you are finished with it).

I'll probably go next year providing there aren't fires burning. I'll bring a desk lamp for the dorm room because that is really the only thing the room is lacking (except for the air conditioner).

Glad you guys did not have to evacuate. My class enrollment was dropping fast and we cancelled it. I am heading to Hong Kong tomorrow and part of me needed to know I would be on time for that trip. Will be back next year.
