    25 pesatas with the head of Genrilismo Franco on it, he was the militery Dictator of the country at that time.

    1957 was the authorization year for that coin. The actual mintage year is in tiny numbers inside the six-pointed star on the reverse. Some of the 1958s have a "BA" there to commemorate the Barcelona Exposition. With a mintage of only 43,000, it's the most valuable of the series, but otherwise it's worth between 20¢ and $90.

    (If you post the mintage year, please do it in this thread and do not start another one.)

    By the way, the Peseta is the principal Spanish currency denomination, so a "$25 piece" would be a more accurate statement than "a quarter", of which the equivalent would be 25 centavos.
